RegCure is a scam and the fact it said you have registry errors means nothing. A registry cleaner is not going to help you, even a safe and reputable one. They don’t and can’t solve real problems.

At this point I would reinstall XP and from then on avoid installing programs that claim they can speed up your computer, fix you registry, etc. The registry does not need "cleaning" or "fixing".

You could use either Ccleaner or Glary Utilities to fix your registry.

http://www.glaryutilities.com

You might end up having to reinstall the OS at any rate, mind you.

I would not go for free cleaners, ccleaner destroyed my windows ! I had to re-install Windows.
Advanced SystemCareFree it’s not free, in fact it’s a trial.

I ended up purchasing winsysclean which in my opinion is the most advanced registry cleaner, http://www.usro.net/products/winsysclean
