You can do it the automated way (but there’s no guarantee that it will work) or the manual way.
Automated way:
Free tools like the following can be used to fix problems caused by malware:
1. Crap Cleaner (http://www.ccleaner.com/)
2. Ad-aware (http://www.lavasoftusa.com/)
3. Registry Mechanic (http://www.pctools.com/registry-mechanic/)
4. RegistryFix (http://www.registryfix.com)
5. Windows Defender (http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx)
You’ll find more registry repair tools at http://registry-optimization.qarchive.org/downloads.html.
Manual way (this takes longer and is unsafe in inexperienced hands):
1. Open the windows registry and back it up
2. Search the registry for the string "Auto Open".
3. Delete all its instances
4. Some instances may "point" to other instances. That is, "Auto Open" may be linked to other sections of the registry. You’ll have to clean those up too.
Again, REMEMBER THAT THE MANUAL WAY IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE AND IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR USE IS YOU’VE NEVER DONE THIS BEFORE OR ARE UNSURE OF WHAT YOU’RE DOING.
If you must do it the manual way, read this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_registry) and this (http://www.winguides.com/) first.
