ok so this question (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AtbkO6HAly56x5PSMLyJP1fsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20100530064827AA5P8UF) should explain my problem pretty well all you need to know that isn’t written there is that I wan’t to try smile’s solution but I can’t because my windows 7 partition of my hard drive won’t boot past the splash screen (even in safe mode) but I can access my xp partition fine so my new question is: can I fix the registry of my windows 7 partition using my xp partition?

thanks for your help

Just reinstall the operating system, i agree with Leo Leport that registry cleaners can create more trouble than they are worth, but there are some that never seem to have a problem with them, and others touching a Microsoft operating system and it goes wrong…

I would guess trying to save your win7 might be a good learning opportunity, but I would think you have more important things to do with your computer. Remember the use of the computer is the primary factor in the decision whether to re-format and re-install!

I would suggest wiping the partition and do a fresh clean install if you need to trust your win7 operating system in the future. if you created a back up/clone of your installation it should only take a few minutes to recopy the clone back to your partition.

if you did not back up your installation, then do it after this clean install, and then when your systems begins to slow down or fails to boot in the future it is a quick fix, instead of a problem…
