-my windows says that it is fake and that i am so annoyed by getting "your system may be at risk", "buy windows genuine advantage", "get a valid copy of windows"
I bought the full version of windows xp at Staples and this is what i get.
I have had this copy of windows for 2 years!!!!!!!!
i tried a windows registry fixer but none of them ever worked
does a windows registry fixer even help?
I’d contact Staples about it. If not, you can always bypass it.
1. reboot your pc into safe mode (usually f8 on reboot)
2. Go to your "My Computer" and to the drive which holds your windows install (usually C:\)
3. Once in the windows home drive go to the windows folder, then go to system32
4. In c:\windows\system32 find the file named "wgatray.exe" and delete it.
5. Now in the system32 folder, also find the folder called dllcache and delete the same file "wgatray.exe" and or "wgatray"
6. Now go to your Start Menu and then to the run box.
7. In the run box type in regedit and hit your enter key.
8. Navigate to the following in the left hand pane. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS NT\CURRENT VERSION\WIN LOGON\NOTIFY
9. Delete the folder named wgalogon and all of it’s contents.
10. Reboot your PC
Good luck.

There are some viruses that delete certain files and therefore revert your windows back to being not genuine!
You should try to get a trial of an antivirus to remove all viruses before attempting to fix your problem.
(I’m pretty sure Norton has a 15 day trial of 360, and Windows One Live Care has a 90 day trial)
Then run the Windows Activation again!
You may have to reformat if it fails sorry, remember to back up your files first.

You answered your own question about the registry fixer. It didn’t work.
If you have a good version of windows, the only way you would get this message is if you installed it on more than one computer. Since Microsoft validates the software to a particular computer, if you try to do updates, the "genuine advantage" tool says "NO" this is a bootleg or copy of the original.
So, your solution is simple. Call Microsoft and get a registration code. If you have the original disc, and packaging, this should NOT be a problem at all. They will give you a code to eliminate the problem.
Keep in mind if you have this same disc loaded on more than one computer, then one of them will not be able to do updates, under the "genuine advantage" license.
Hope this helps.
