can not open registry editor?

hi
i have been attacked by a worm that came by yahoo
i am trying to follow these instructions http://www.symantec.com/security_response/writeup.jsp?docid=2006-121310-2059-99&tabid=3
i have complete system scan it has captured and cleaned some viruses but can;t open registry the keys given in that removal procedure. i have tried to open by using the method given on that site but still can’t open registry so wot to do? how to open it. it is infected by that worm help me plz
i have tried safe mode as well. couldn’t help

It sounds like that virus disabled the regedit, or something. Alot of those hackers are pretty smart, and they design there viruses to wipe out specifically those functions that can be used against them, like safe mode, regedit, system restore, etc…you may just have to reinstall windows, or if you have a system backup disk, you can use that. Keep in mind, it will reset your PC to the exact way it was when you first got it. Your PC probably has a backup partition you can restore from, but it could possibly be infected as well.

boot into safe mode..see if that helps…
you are probably going ot need to re-install though..OR log in as the administrator..
