I have done everything(removed unwanted programs, defraged, deleted cookies, spybot removal) yet my system idles between commands to the point I can go get something to drink and come back just in time as the page loads. I was told that I have enough space in terms of memory. What do you think is my problem?

You should allow me to connect to your computer remotely using MSN Messenger.

Maybe the virus program is making your computer slower. Or possibly, you are low on disk space. Here’s a quick and easy way to make your computer the fastest it could be:

- Click Start | Run, type msconfig, Press Enter.
- Click the Startup Tab and click Disable All.
- Click Services, check Hide All Microsoft Services. Click Disable All.
- Apply, Ok, Restart.

  1. Did you make sure you don’t have a bad drive loading somewhere in one of your installed software?

  2. Speed up your PC This Way

Firstly go to start menu and select "run"

In the dialog that comes up type msconfig

On the next screen select the startup tab and choose disable all – apply it then restart your PC – this disables all the tat that starts up when your PC starts – dont worry if anything has to start when your pc reboots it will automatically re-enable it’s self

now go to control panels and select internet options – and delete temporary internet files (Including Offline content)

Remove the appallingly bad Norton and/or mcaffe – spybot S&D / Adaware and any other virus or spyware checker on your PC (Start > Control panels > Add remove programs) then after they are all removed

Download AVG Free & AVGS Free from

    http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/2/

run both of these programs and clear any viruses / spyware you may have

after that – run the disk defragmenter Programs > System tools

Make sure windows firewall is enabled – But dont download any other firewalls as this on does it’s job fine and you dont need 2 (This will only cause you more problems)

    Good luck

    Hope this helps

  4. Hard drive space taken up? Or your ram needs to be upgrade. Those are my two best bets. Go to best buy for more help or what ever major electronic store is near you.

  5. If you installed the anti-spyware and anti-virus in response to the situation they may have cloaked themselves,or it may be another problem, ethier way I reccomend formating your hard disk and installing a flavor of Linux or BSD as they do not have such problems.

Edit:Do not let any person here you do not know to connect to your computer,it is typically not safe.

  6. I have the SAME problem. You are not alone. I do the same. I do EVERYTHING. Defraged like 8 times daily! Boot Boost, used Xp Smoker, and Too slow. But I asked the same question you did not to long ago, if you look in my profile, you may see some better answers.

I heard if your Hard Drive is more than half way full, it is slowing it down.

  7. You have virus removers and registry cleaners. Do you have spy ware removers? I’d start there. If you do and they are all coming up clean try starting in safe mode (restart and tap F8, select Safe mode from list). Run the scans in Safe mode and see what happens. If that doesn’t work do a scan disk on your hard drive (will require a restart). If that’s ok then I suggest you back up, format and reinstall everything. Sometimes you just need to blow everything away to resolve an issue.

  8. maybe because you have an old computer. cause the one last year, was REALLY slow cause the computer was old. we had it since i was in kindergarden or something. or maybe becuase you dont have road runner. it could be either one of those so if its old then maybe its time for you to get a new computer. like i did or just change the network

  10. you may have rogue program running to find out the culprit press Alt Crtl and Del together first click the performance tab the graph should show an idle of about 3% to 7% with the odd peat up to 20% if it’s higher than this click the processes tab scroll down the list to see which one is using the most processor time try right clicking on it and clicking end task accept any warning it may give you by clicking yes
if it’s a regular program uninstall it and then reboot then reinstall it that usually does the trick

  11. it may be as simple as needing to defrag.fragmented files will greatly slow your computer down.as a matter of fact most computer speed optimizers just run the defrag program that is already on your computer and then says"see what I did"although it only did what you could have done easily yourself…good luck

  12. when you boot your computer each day go into the safe mode and run your virus scanner and spyware remover tools. sometimes viruses, trojans, spyware get into your start up files. when this happens you cannot get them out in the regular mode.

find a day or two when you have nothing else to do with your computer. you cannot use your computer wheile running either of the tools below

first click on the "My Computer" and right click your hard drive icon usually it’s drive c: then scroll down to "Properties". in there click on "Scandisk". set up scan disk throughly scan the drive and automatically fix all errors. go away an let it run to the end. check it occasionally in case it asks you to do something. this operation could easily take more than 24 hours with today’s large hard drives. you must remove all errors before defrag will work.

after getting all of the errors off of your hard drive go back where scandisk is and click on defragmentor. run this too the end.

  13. Could be:
    1. Your Hard Drive may be on the way out.
    2. Ram may be faulty.
    3. The machine is showing signs of age.
    5. Excessive temporary files (use Crap Cleaner: http://www.ccleaner.com)
    4. It may be a still undetected virus/spyware.

Go to http://forum.ccleaner.com and make a post in their "Spyware Hell" sub forum and they will sort it out if its a virus/spyware/malware.

If you haven’t already used AVG free get it here:
    http://free.grisoft.com
ONLY get antvirus apps from their official home page, NOT from other links (as the other posters will give you) as other sites may be hosting old or infected files.

Don’t touch windows defender (ie. Windows One Care) its currently rubbish.

There is no-reason to buy and use NoAdware when there are freeware alternative like
    Spybot Search and Destroy:
