4:30 PM 11/21/2009 Saturday. A few days ago my e-mail program told me my password was incorrect I had to contact support to change my password for my at&t yahoo! then after a few hours I was once able to access both my ISP site and my emails pop and smtp. Then, yesterday my computer’s Norton Internet Security 2009 stopped working properly and it indicated that I had to remove it. I was instructed to remove NIS2009 and Norton System Works Standard Edition 12.0 using the Norton Removal Tool. The error. a series of numbers separated by a decimal was indicated while I was on line. Was it some type of a virus? Anyway, all I can really do is follow the removal tool’s instructions and hopefully get the programs re-installed and working properly after all that. The only error found in my system prior to using System Works to clean out registry using one button repair was a tracking cookie that had 3 sub cookies and it was removed after a full system scan using Norton Internet Security and Anti-Virus 2009. I see this all the time and it can’t be the reason that the Norton Internet Security 2009 program required that I remove it and re-install it or the 2010 upgrade. I find that I only have a piece of the puzzle not the whole entire picture.
Contact norton live support and they are available 24/7.

- The email issue should have nothing to do with your anti-virus performance.
- Removal of cookies shouldn’t cause any issues with your system. However, any adjustment of the registry should only be done when absolutely necessary.
- In my experience, Norton is a monster program and a huge resource hog. After having a similar experience with Norton, I removed the entire program.
Now I just use a 3-part combo that has been working perfectly for me for years:
1. Load AVG AntiVirus. The free version will be plenty of protection for regular surfing.
2. Load AsAware and run it’s scan every 2 weeks.
3. Make sure your Windows firewall is on.
Your system will run much smoother and you’ll have sufficient protection.
