Windows Xp Registry Repair Tools – How to Backup Your Windows Registry

Using the right tools, you can repair your Windows XP Registry without any problems. It sounds complicated but it’s not.
The classic symptoms that announce that your operating system has some problems are the following: slow bootups, the annoying BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death), often crashes and freezes, error messages and poor performance.
In order to stop all that from happening it’s recommended that you check your Windows registry for invalid entries and errors. Here you can find every single setting for the operating system and also for the hardware and software. In other words, this is your PC’s central nervous system.
Fixing these problems is not a technician’s job. You can do it by yourself if you follow a few easy steps. But first of all it is very important that you make a backup of the registry and a Windows restore point. This is necessary just in case any problems will occur during the cleaning process.
Let’s begin:
Step 1
Go to Start – All Programs – Accessories – System Tools – System Restore and create a new restore point by adding a name and clicking the “create” button.
Step 2
Go to Start – Run, type: regedit and press Enter. This will lead you to the registry editor. It is very important that you don’t change anything because any change will interfere with your PC. Remember: this is not the place to test your creativity!
Go to File – Export and save the .reg file by choosing a name and a location for it. This will help you revert back the changes in case you’re not satisfied with the results.
Step 3
When the backup is ready you can start repairing the Windows XP registry. There are many windows registry software that you can download online that will scan and repair any errors automatically. One such software is Registry Easy.
I do not recommend you edit the registry yourself as you can accidentally or unintentionally delete or change some entries and cause your operating system to be unable to boot up. Plus, windows registry cleaning software can scan and fix errors much faster.

You are really through. I use "Registry Mechanic". I find it works well for me. This is something that I didn’t know about these things that I will pass along to you. Some of the registry cleaners on the market are very aggressive. By this I mean they will remove files and connections that you don’t want removed. If you are a pro which I am not it is not such a big deal but if you are an old codger and a computer dope like me or just one or the other this could be a big headache for you. I have two computers. It works fine on both of them. One uses a Microsoft XP operating system. The other one uses Vista Home Premium. Best of Luck To You Bob
